The Story . . .

Est 2021

Park House luxury dog boarding is a brand new, purpose built, luxury boarding facility. Based at our family farm and home, in the heart of North Yorkshire. Although our building may be new, our passion for dogs certainly isn't. We have strived to create an environment for your dogs, which feels as much like their own home as possible. Husband and wife team, Tom and Kate Stead, opened Park House luxury dog boarding kennels in 2021.

The boarding kennels had always been a dream of Kate’s, having grown up on her family's Yorkshire farm, she has always been extremely passionate (or some may say mad), about animals. One of her parent's favourite anecdotes involves discovering Kate had erected signs all over the local village, offering to dog sit for pocket money. It is perhaps unsurprising that she has now opened her very own boarding facility.

Kate left school in 2009 to embark upon a veterinary nursing apprenticeship. This resulted in her spending 8 years in total, working in various different roles and veterinary practices. Invaluable experience was gained along the way.

Tom and Kate have their own small team of working dogs, Tom being very passionate about his working Border Collies, and Kate having a strong interest in working Golden Retrievers and Cocker Spaniels. Tom helps to run the family farm with his father Rob, as well as helping Kate out in the kennels as and when he is needed. Kate works full time in the kennels.

The planning of the boarding kennels was an arduous process, and soon became a labour of love. It was certainly no overnight process. The pair spent countless night’s creating drawings, striding out across the garden, and searching and visiting other kennels.

The end goal was to creating a somewhere she would be happy to leave her own beloved pets for a stay. The main focus was for the environment to not feel like a boarding kennels, so that the dogs feel like they are at a home from home. This for Kate, meant the following:

  • Large comfortable sleeping areas

  • Their own personal covered runs

  • A lot of natural day light

  • Usual household sound and stimulation – Radios & TV’s on the walls

  • Usual household smells

  • No long periods of time in kennelled areas

  • Tailor made routines to stick to what your dogs are used too

  • Owners are allowed to bring as many possessions with their dogs as they like, this may be beds, soft furnishings, items of the owners clothing, toys, teddies etc

  • The option of added extras, like bath and blow dry before home time.

  • Garden afternoons for the elderly residents

  • Puppy play time

  • Large free running areas for our more athletic friends

  • No facing kennels, no dogs looking into another dog’s private area

  • Individually heated sleeping areas

Kate is always keen to know as much information about your dog as possible, if there are things he or she particularly likes or dislikes. All of these little things are so important to us, as we know dogs are all individuals, and we want them to feel as happy and relaxed as possible in our surroundings.

Living on our own family farm surrounded by private land, which is superb for dog-walking, has enabled us to create an idyllic place for your pets to stay. We hope your pets will be more than happy here, and thoroughly enjoy their stay.

We apologise this is so long winded, but we hope you have learnt a little bit more about us, and why we have followed our dreams in setting up Park House Farm Boarding Kennels.

Best Wishes

Tom, Kate and all of our four-legged friends xx
